DUCHELLE ATTENDS: JAPANESE NIGHT AT HOTEL MARTINEZ - CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2026

Cannes · May 2026

During the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, DUCHELLE was invited to attend the 3rd edition of the annual JAPANESE NIGHT event at Hôtel Martinez, an evening celebrating Japanese cinema, culture and creativity on the Croisette.

Founded by actress and producer MEGUMI with it’s first edition during the 77th edition of Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2024, the Japanese Night event brought together Japanese filmmakers, actors, producers and artists with international guests from the film and cultural industries. It formed part of Japan’s wider presence at Cannes in 2026, when Japan was named Country of Honour at the Marché du Film.

The evening moved between cinema and culture, with presentations from emerging Japanese filmmakers alongside traditional performances, including bonsai and Taishū Engeki, before continuing into music with a DJ set by Mademoiselle Yulia.

Among the guests and participants were MEGUMI, Takumi Saito, Marika Matsumoto and Yuno Nagao, alongside international producers, festival representatives and cultural figures.

Set against the luxurious environment of Hôtel Martinez and the natural Mediterranean backdrop of the Croisette, JAPANESE NIGHT brought together film, fashion, heritage and contemporary Japanese culture in one of Cannes’ most recognisable settings.
